Speaker: Will McCullen

The meeting focused on cybersecurity awareness, presented by Will McCullen from Pima Community College's IT Center of Excellence. Will demonstrated various cyber threats and security measures, including the use of password managers, multi-factor authentication, and the importance of updating software regularly. He emphasized that attackers often target the easiest victims, so individuals should make it difficult for hackers by using unique passwords for each account and enabling security features. Will also discussed the dark web and how it's used for illegal activities, as well as the dangers of smart home devices like webcams and Alexa. The presentation concluded with a demonstration of how easily a system can be hacked, emphasizing the need for vigilance and awareness when online.

Will shared exciting developments at Pima's IT Center of Excellence, including their largest CTE program with over 800 headcount and collaboration with other institutions. The conversation ended with Will demonstrating a Wi-Fi pineapple device to illustrate cybersecurity threats, encouraging attendees to check their WiFi networks for potential hacking demonstrations.

He explained how hackers use password cracking tools and emphasized the importance of using unique, long passwords and updating software regularly. He encouraged attendees to think critically online and be cautious about sharing personal information.

Cindy reminded everyone about Lil Abner's Christmas dinner on Wednesday at 6.30.
